I read Lost Boys. What struck me is how much this manosphere stuff has become a thriving industry. If these influencers are making more and more money and social media are getting more and more clicks and Far Right politicians are gaining more votes then they don’t care about harms to women. It’s completely cynical. So we’ve kind of become beside the point. Even though they never stop bloody talking about us…among themselves.
The first time I saw Andrew Tate was on X waving a machete talking about women. A machete ffs. He’s exactly the kind of man women avoid. But he seems to get this praise from some men because he’s cruel, macho and spends too much time in the gym or online. If he attracts 80% of women he wouldnt need to lock them up in his house or threaten them would he?
Where does this end as this is getting more and more extreme? I think a womans right to safety trumps (no pun intended) a man’s right to get a date. After watching The Secret Life of Incels it’s horrific to see how far this has gone.
Thanks Eva. Really interesting point by James on the pod about how much the manosphere now is about men seeking to impress other men, rather than women. 100% agree that in any event, women's safety is paramount. As a man, I feel threatened by the aggressive masculinity of this world so can't imagine how it under mines women's self confidence - both online and IRL.
