Adrian Goldberg investigates one of the great scandals of our time – the health inequalities that mean a man living in central Blackpool can expect to die 27 years earlier than his counterpart in an affluent district of London...
That stark figure – from research by Imperial College in London – showed that, life expectancy for women fell in almost one in five communities in England in the decade before the pandemic…whilst researchers at York University’s Centre For Health Economics found that cuts led to 57,000 deaths more than would otherwise have been expected in the four years after Austerity was implemented in 2010 by the coalition government.
Adrian is joined by Professor Sir Michael Marmot, Director of the Institute of Health Equity at University College London and Byline Times writer Sam Bright whose book Fortress London, Why We Need To save The Country From Its Capital is available now on pre order.
