Until just two months ago, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis looked like the prospective presidential nominee in waiting for the Republican Party.
Since then, a series of events has elevated his opponent, the twice-impeached, once-indicted former President Donald Trump, into the catbird’s seat in the race, which will decide who represents the opposition party on the top of the ticket for next year’s general election.
The rapid rise and fall of DeSantis amongst Republicans in national primary polling have shocked many casual observers. However, those of us who have followed the one-man “War on Woke” warrior closely, know exactly why we are where we are.
