Two weeks ago, the great hero of Brexit did what he has always done throughout his life – and ran away from the mess he had created, shouting calumnies back over his shoulder.
On each of the very many previous occasions and with the connivance of his allies and a compliant press, he managed – incredibly – to bounce back. But this time – just maybe – the curtain really has come down on the Boris Johnson show.
