The Rise of Muskenstein's Monster
The real story of X Owner Elon Musk is the prioritisation of obscene personal wealth over the needs of ordinary Americans
A few days ago Elon Musk announced a change to the X algorithm that he claims will promote more entertaining content and diminish the number of negative posts. That’s rich coming from the guy who spent the entire US election cycle fear-mongering about immigrants (of which he is one), gender affirming care, and anything else that could help Donald Trump.
Now just as Trump is about to take office, Musk wants to change all that and make sure that people have a more rosy view of the world. Already operating as a shadow President who apparently is tasked with reforming the American Government’s spending priorities, Musk now plays a major role in the United State’s media ecosystem.
His larger than life figure is akin to the story of Frankenstein’s monster. Over the last few decades American policymakers on both sides have helped shovel money upwards, while ignoring important social problems, including the deterioration of our journalistic landscape. Enter Musk, the monster-like figure created by those policies, who is now using his own obscene wealth to transform our media landscape in the favor of himself and Trump.
