In the week the Government cut £5 billion in benefit payments, Russell Jones takes the UK's tax-dodging billionaires to task and urges Labour to get on with imposing a wealth tax
We not only need a minimum wage we need a maximum wage/income. Something like 10 times the median should be enough for most people. Ok, some will leave, well their genius is grossly overrated and basically they are not wealth creators (other than for themselves) they are wealth extractors.
Brilliantly written, as always. The rhetoric that we must protect the wealth creators is BS. Anyone who has studied sociology knows that wealth doesn’t trickle down, it flows like a river upwards.
Russell YES!!! Absolutely spot on- let’s do exactly ALL this. As always, a witty but forcably made series of ideas and solutions. One thing we can use to soften thd shock - ax a no nonsense guaranteed reward to all those mega rich that so kindly end up paying far more / fairer scaled taxes - a speicial name engraved golden seat in heaven! That should make their generosity easier to swallow. SORTED. You have my vote! Many Thanks …will share widely) Richard
Well done Russell, if the current, long term trend continues I fear we will move to some form of fascism. We should not play the game of accepting that the rich can always cheat their way out of taxation or leave the Country. If they attempt to leave with their money we can confiscate it and any UK property they 'own' and stamp their passports with No Return! Job done.
I cannot disagree, but I'm a pessimist. The very rich have the means to avoid any claw back that might be attempted. There seem so many ways tax can be avoided. Conservatives, Labour or Reform will not fix it.
It seems simple, but I'm not remotely knowledgeable enough to know how this can be done without the whole structure collapsing.
Brilliant article — I agree completely. This should be so easy…
Great piece.

Maybe that's what has to happen...
