"The number of people claiming sickness or disability benefits in England and Wales has risen from 2.8 million in 2019 to around 4 million today"
A pandemic badly managed by the Tory government resulted in more people being left unable to work, so now the Labour Government are going to punish them (and anyone else unfortunate enough to be unable to work.)
By all means, find ways to help people recover or assist workplaces to employ people with disabilities, but simply cutting vital funding that people rely on to live is not the answer.
There is plenty of money in the country, but this Government don't have the guts to ask those who could afford it to pay more. Sounds familiar...
The fundamental question remains as to whether austerity, in any guise, truly delivers sustainable growth and a cohesive society or whether it risks fragmenting communities and sacrificing long-term prosperity for short-term numbers on a balance sheet.
Thank you for your honesty. They are no longer the labour party, they are politicians with BLUE ties. I voted for labour for more than 40 years but never again! I, unfortunately, lived through the thatcher (I deliberately didn't use a capital t) years and was a victim of her destruction of this country. Especially the South Wales valleys. Now the so called labour party are using the most vulnerable people to get some easy money.
