Yesterday the Byline team held a fascinating online discussion about the failures of journalism on both sides of the Atlantic and the threat it now poses to our democracies.

Our editor Hardeep Matharu joined Jay Rosen, Associate Professor of Journalism at New York University, alongside our Executive Editor Peter Jukes and our Political Editor Adam Bienkov.

They discussed the parallels between what is now happening in the States and the structural problems already exposed by the failures of the ‘political-media’ class in the UK - from our tabloid press to the BBC.
