Just a quick note to thank you for supporting Byline Supplement and to invite you to join us for a fascinating discussion today at 5pm (UK time).

With voters preparing to go to the polls in both the US and UK, we will be joined by the US-based writer Anne Nelson, alongside Byline’s own Chief reporter Josiah Mortimer to discuss the growing threats to democracy on both sides of the Atlantic.

Nelson, who was interviewed recently on these pages, is a prize-winning author and journalist who published extensively on the issues of human rights and freedom of expression. She will be chatting with Byline regular Heidi Cuda.

Meanwhile Josiah Mortimer, who is running our ‘VoteWatch’ project in the UK, will be talking about how you can help us protect the integrity of the upcoming general election, amid what is predicted to be the dirtiest campaign in living memory.

They will be taking questions from the audience plus the rest of the Byline team, including our Executive Editor Peter Jukes and our Editor Hardeep Matharu.
