Every word here hammers home the truth.

I fervently wished for a huge Labour victory with the chance to reset the country on multiple fronts. But Starmer’s refusal to reopen the Brexit issue, objective catastrophe that it is, is - in its way - no less irresponsible than Truss & Kwarteng’s fantasy economics.

Starmer wants growth above all else as the solution to our economic problems. Refusal to consider the most obvious and biggest boost available - reversing Brexit - is frankly nothing short of bone-header.

That said, putting the UK back in a leadership role at the centre of Europe is also absolutely essential for our national security, the coordinated handling of migration, and for our society in the broadest cultural sense.

Very well written. I fully support everything that you have detailed. I have to hope that Starmer is working to prove that they are the right party to reset relationships across the EU and the world. Brexit has been personally devastating. It's been and remains an economic disaster. It has reduced so many opportunities for our young people. It has narrowed minds and encouraged bigotry. The lack of will to address this issue is demoralising, undemocratic, and shortsighted.

The EU wont have us, would you if you were them? We've still got the cohort of Russian backed, right wing anti EU dingbats' like Farage, Johnson et al. A right wing news media that is totally dishonest in it's coverage of the EU and a high proportion of people who believe the anti EU rhetoric fed them by the above.

It's a shame but the EU would be foolish to entertain Britain as a member whist the media give such positive coverage to Reform, and they are not fools.

Grayling is right. Brexit was a catastrophe of self-harm, committed in a combination of deception and self-deception. It should be reversed, if not all at once, then gradually, selectively.

The population of the U K are not in a position to make decisions about the next steps for our relationship with the EU. Voting on an emotion rather than facts, which most people are unaware of, is ridiculous. We need a fact based reason from good research and management, which should encompass the real pros and cons of returning. A general vote is silly without people understanding the facts and consequences, which is the general situation in this poorly educated country. Any future vote on this must take the time to manage the process and the outcomes, as so much has shifted in Europe since we bailed out.

As a European i am fed up with English distractions. First they take up years of attention to exit. Now they want back, without begging on their knees and apologizing profusely and sincerely.
