I was recently asked to debate whether 4 July was relevant. Was it even racist?
Declining that invitation rather swiftly, knowing the toxicity of online debate, I asked myself exactly what the question meant.
Did it mean 4 July itself, by its very existence, is racist? Or that it had become racist? What?
